We
are situated at the foot of Matese (www.matese.it, www.parcodelmatese.com) mountains in an area largely
ignored by mass tourism; far enough but not too far from the
Rome – Naples motorway.
On
one side there are green mountains peaks and on the other
is a crown of villages offering endless discoveries: Alvignano
with its castle and early Christian church; Alife with its
cathedral and surrounding roman walls; Calvi (the ancient
Cales) with its temples, thermal baths and roman amphitheatres
now surrounded by orchards; Capua with its archeological museum and the incredible series of Mater Matuta’s statues;
San Leucio with its ante literam silk factories with the annex
workers village created by the Borbone Royal family; Sala
di Caserta with “De Negri’s” factories where
they produce magnificent brocades, using
|
ancient
looms and following Borbone’s designs; and last but
not least, Caserta with its Royal Palace, beautifully restored
to its original splendour a few years ago. |

Other
suggestions. A day excursion to the village of San Gregorio
and to its homonymous massif; walks and picnics in the green
fields around the Matese lake; a visit to San Lorenzello
- passing through Telese where there are thermal baths -
and to “Giustiniani’s” ancient factory
where they produce XVII models: real masterpieces which
still bear witness of an art that goes back to the old italic
population of Cerreto Sannita; an historical tour at Teano
where Garibaldi and Vittorio Emanuele II met and marked
the solemn moment of the unity of Italy.
The small village of Dragoni, where we are located has a
population of 3000 inhabitants and is only 29 kilometres
from the autostrada exit of North Caserta. The village can
be found following the SP330. It enjoys an excellent geographical
position with the Volturno river on its right hand side
and the

nearby
slopes of Monte Maggiore boast the ruins of a XII century castle.
It’s an ideal place to wander round the town lanes, enjoying
the fresh country air and discovering the lovely views. Villa de
Pertis’ imposing entrance faces a small square and a church,
and once you pass through it you will not want to leave.

Inside
you will immediately notice the elegant characteristics:
the design of the arches, the seventeenth century doors
and the series of windows. Nicola, the owner greets guests
with a warm and friendly welcome and will show visitors
the pleasant hospitality for which he is well known. A glance
at the garden – where you can relish its coolness
and beauty - and then you will shown to your room. Here
you will feel like you are visiting family - amongst wrought
iron beds, romantic dressing tables and big wardrobes, which
will make you recall the times when they were full of fresh
linen dried in the sun and lavander-scented. Later on you
can enjoy a game at our ancient billiard table, reminisce
over old times, admiring the old photos hung on the walls
or simply relax and drink an aperitif, sunk in a comfortable
armchair.
Our
dining-room is still like that of an old countryside landowner
with its sofas around the large fireplace in one corner
and on the other side a dinner-table to share with other
guests, which creates a fine social atmosphere, starting
with breakfast served with homemade goodies and fresh bread
still cooked in a wood burning oven at the local bakery.During
your stay you can enjoy yourself by walking along old sheep
tracks (still in use today), cycling around in search of
tiny streams, playing table tennis or just relaxing
|
|
in
a inviting deck-chair with the comfort of a good book and
enjoying the sunshine.
A
few hundred meters away from the villa you will find yourself
in open countryside.
